SABAH, 2 February 2024 - A total of 4 Fast Interceptor Craft (FIC) G2000 Mk II from the first phase have been delivered to the Royal Malaysian Navy (RMN) by Gading Marine Industry Sdn Bhd at the RMN Kota Kinabalu Base.

This procurement project's initial phase was constructed in Sitiawan, Perak, and successfully completed within 16 months. Meanwhile, the entire procurement will be implemented gradually, involving 13 FIC G2000 Mk II in 3 phases.

The 18-meter-long FIC G2000 Mk II is equipped with Escribano's Remote Control Weapon Station (RCWS), enabling the automatic firing of the CANiK M2 Quick Change Barrel (QCB) 12.7mm Heavy Machine Gun (HMG). It is also capable of reaching speeds of up to 52 knots.

These four assets will be stationed at Maritime Region Headquarters 2 (MAWILLA 2), Sandakan, to enhance maritime security, especially in the waters of Eastern Sabah. Additionally, they will act as complementary assets or force multipliers for the RMN.

This handover was witnessed and completed by the Minister of Defence, YB Khaled Nordin, along with the Secretary General, YBhg. Datuk Seri Isham bin Ishak.
