KUALA LUMPUR, 6 March 2024 – Minister of Defence Malaysia, YB Khaled Nordin, attended the ASEAN Defence Ministers’ Retreat at Luang Prabang, Lao PDR on the 4th to 6th of March 2024.
Highlighting the significance of both ADMM and ADMM-Plus, YB Minister of Defence underscored their pivotal roles as primary platforms for fostering defence and security dialogues, along with practical cooperation aimed at enhancing regional peace, security, and stability.
During the discussions, the ASEAN Defence Ministers reiterated their commitment to realizing the ASEAN Community Vision 2045, emphasizing the importance of bolstering the defence sector's contribution towards regional peace, stability, and security.
Furthermore, the Minister availed himself of the opportunity to engage in bilateral discussions with H.E. General Chansamone Chanyalath, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence of Lao PDR, as well as H.E. Sutin Klungsang, Minister of Defence of Thailand. These bilateral meetings served to strengthen diplomatic ties and foster collaboration on regional defence and security matters.
