Kuala Lumpur, 14 March 2023 – To appreciate the contribution of its personnel, the Ministry of Defence and MAF have presented the Excellent Service Awards (APC) and the Distinguished Service and Character (PPT) Medals 2022 to 874 civil servants, 9,198 MAF staff from the three service branches and 133 retirees involving 10,205 individuals.

Defence Minister, YB Dato’ Seri Utama Mohamad bin Haji Hassan officiated the Excellence Service Awards (APC) presentation and the Jasamu Dikenang Kementerian Pertahanan 2023.

For the event, the Defence Minister officiated the award and medal presentations to 391 APC and PPT receivers that consist of civil servants at Wisma Pertahanan and Military Units, MAF members and selected civil servant retirees. As for the remaining medal receivers, the presentation ceremony will be coordinated by the respective State/Headquarters (HQ).

In his speech, YB Dato’ Seri Utama Mohamad urged the defence staff to maintain their excellence with a sincere and positive attitude as well as setting an example to their colleagues to work harder in the future.

He added, “To the retirees, we have retired from our positions but do not stop contributing to our race and country”, as he was officiating the event that was themed Sustained Excellence Service Appreciation of the Ministry of Defence.

APC receivers will be given an Excellent Service Certificate and a performance cash prize worth RM1,000, while compulsory retired civil servants will receive the PPT medal, Appreciation Certificate and cash prizes worth RM600, and voluntary retirees will receive an Appreciation Certificate and cash prizes worth RM600.

The award and recognition given is a sign of appreciation to all defence staff who are not only the nation’s frontline but also play their part as a crucial element in the second pillar of the national defence strategy, which is Comprehensive Defence, as underlined in the Defence White Paper.

Also present was Deputy Defence Minister, YB Adly Zahari, Secretary General of the Ministry of Defence, Ybhg. Dato’ Sri Muez bin Abd Aziz, Chief of Defence Forces, General Tan Sri Dato’ Sri Hj. Affendi bin Buang RMAF, Service Chiefs and the Top Management for the Ministry and Armed Forces.
