NEGERI SEMBILAN, 7 March 2023 – A total of 450 veteran MAF members, widows and representatives of heirs were inaugurated with the Malaysian Service Medal (PJM) at Sendayan Air Base.

The ceremony was officiated by the Defence Minister, YB Dato’ Seri Utama Haji Mohamad bin Haji Hasan. It was his first time doing so since he was appointed as the Defence Minister.

PJM is a medal of recognition to armed forces members for their heroics, bravery, sacrifices, and loyalty during their efforts to free Malaysia from the threat of communist terrorists. To this date, a total of 36,364 veteran MAF members have been awarded the medal.

Today’s inauguration shows the Ministry of Defence’s commitment to appreciate the MAF’s role and contributions in ensuring the nation’s peace and stability. It also aligns with the aspirations that were stated in the Defence White Paper, which is the interests of the defence personnel.

Also present was the General Secretary, Ybhg. Dato’ Sri Muez bin Abdul Aziz, Chief of Defence Forces, Ybhg General Tan Sri Dato’ Sri Haji Affendi bin Buang MAF as well as the Service Chief.
