PUTRAJAYA, July 19, 2022 - The Senior Defence Minister, Dato' Seri Hishammuddin Tun Hussein, attended the Opening Ceremony of the 2022 National Security Conference and National Security Month Celebration at the Marriott Hotel today.
The prime minister stated in his remarks after officiating at the ceremony that the responsibility for ensuring Malaysia's continued sovereignty, peace, and prosperity does not rest with the security forces and government alone, but rather the responsibility of the entire Malaysian family.
The Malaysian Family Concept, initiated by the Prime Minister in August 2021, carries a very relevant spirit which is synergised with the national security philosophy. The Prime Minister stated that the cost-saving measures taken by the government would not affect national security. He also stressed that security would remain a national priority and projects such as the construction of camps or border control would not be affected.
According to the Prime Minister, National Security Council has implemented the COMPREHENSIVE SECURITY (COMSEC) Doctrine to enable the whole government to assume responsibility for ensuring national security and proactively improve the community. He stated that the developed doctrine would help Malaysia meet the current and future challenges of national security management.
Also present were the Chiefs of Service as well as senior civil and military officials of the Defence Ministry.
