SELANGOR, January 2, 2022 – The Malaysian Armed Forces (MAF) through the Malaysian Army and the Public Works Department (JKR) are building a temporary bridge in Kampung Jawa, Sungai Lui, Hulu Langat, near here, to restore the communication routes of the residents which collapsed in the floods that hit several areas late last month.
The Compact 200 Bailey bridge, 18.24 metres (m) long and 7.35 metres wide, with a 6-bay modular, provided by the Petaling district JKR, would benefit the 12 families living in the village.
The bridge installation through "Op Murni" is a programme under the 4th Division Infantry with the assistance of the Royal Army Engineers Regiment and was held in collaboration with JKR Hulu Langat and Petaling.
The site clearance work began on December 29 to assist 15 members of the JKR Petaling Bailey Bridge Team, and the installation work started on January 1 with the help of the Malaysian Armed Forces, involving an officer and 11 members of 2 Squadron Royal Army Engineers Regiment, led by Lt Nur Filzah binti Ismail.
Also involved in the bridge technical advisory services are Petaling District Engineer, Ir Rozainol Effendi bin Md Janah; Hulu Langat District Engineer, Ir Zulfaizal bin Mat Zin; and the Commanding Officer of 2 Squadron Royal Army Engineers Regiment, Major Khaironnisa bin Asmar.
