HIGH-LEVEL MEETING CALLED TO PREPARE DEFENCE WHITE PAPER (DWP)
Kuala Lumpur, January 29, 2019 : A high-level roundtable meeting was held between several ministries to come up with the Defence White Paper (DWP) for a long-term comprehensive defence plan for the country at Wisma Perwira, Ministry of Defence, today.
The meeting, chaired by Defence Minister, YB Mohamad Bin Sabu, was attended by 75 people including Home Minister, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, Economic Affairs Minister, Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali, and Communications and Multimedia Minister Gobind Singh Deo.
In a press conference, Defence Minister, YB Mohamad said that the meeting was to prepare a Defence White Paper (DWP) that would embody the government's aspirations in strengthening the nation's defences as well as formulating directions and strategic priorities for the country's security.
He added that among the matters discussed, along with conventional defence against terrorism, were cyber security threats, acquisition of assets, and budget.
The meeting also attended by the Chief Secretary to the Government, Datuk Seri Dr. Ismail bin Hj. Bakar; Deputy Defence Minister, YB Senator Liew Chin Tong, Secretary General of the Ministry of Defence, Dato' Halimi bin Abd. Manaf; Chief Armed Forces, General Tan Sri Dato' Seri Panglima Hj Zulkifli bin Haji Zainal Abidin, Inspector General of Royal Malaysia Police, Tan Sri Dato' Sri Mohamad Fuzi bin Harun; Public Service Director-General, Datuk Seri Borhan bin Dolah; Secretary General of the Ministry of Home Affairs, Dato' Seri Alwi bin Haji Ibrahim; Secretary General of the Ministry of Communications and Multimedia, Dato' Dr. Mohd Ali bin Mohamad Nor; and YM Tuan Haji Engku Hamzah bin Tuan Mat, the Director General of National Security, Prime Minister's Department.
