PUTRAJAYA, May 11 - The government has set up a Special Task Force led by the Malaysian Armed Forces (MAF) to avoid of illegal immigrants entering the country through a rat lane.

Senior Minister (Security Cluster) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said the team was made up of all uniformed agencies.

He added that all the agencies involved were able to cooperate fully in safeguarding national borders, which is part of efforts to curb the spread of the COVID-19 outbreak in Malaysia.

"We have identified all the rat tracks. We (the government) already know where they are coming from, whether on the West Coast of the Peninsula, the East Coast, Sabah and Sarawak” he said at a press conference in Putrajaya today.

According to him, the government has now consolidated existing special forces and assets in dealing with the problem of the illegal immigrants.

He insists the government has also arrested individuals responsible for smuggling the illegal immigrants.
